This is a fantastic project for the community of North Solihull to improve the health of people at risk of heart and respiratory related illnesses. We want to empower local residents to be able to take control of their health and to be able to help each other.
Why?
- We know that life expectancy is lower than in other parts of England.
- Sometimes people need to work with people that really understand them and their challenges?
- There’s a lot of simple things that can be done to improve health.
- The NHS can’t do it all and some people struggle to access services.
- We want more people to live healthier, later into life.
How will we do this?
- Improve health literacy.
- Improve the take-up of healthchecks.
- Help people to understand their health results.
- Get more people involved in local community activities.
- Help create new activities.
- Support the development of volunteers and champions.
- Dispel myths about health.
- Working with partners.
- Ensuring that as much of the work as possible is community-led.
- Making the most of local facilities.
We’re delighted to be working with Cars Area Together in Smiths Wood and Three Trees in Chelmsley Wood. We are also working with Ambercare Solutions CIC.
